A lakeshore software development firm wants to tap into broader recruiting potential with a new office in the Grand Rapids market.
SpinDance Inc., a 50-person Holland tech firm that works with a range of manufacturers in the automotive supply chain, consumer electronics and industrial products industries, is branching out to help the company continue to attract in-demand embedded software and mobile software developers.
The firm has leased 4,000 square feet at the Watermark Tech Center at 1595 Galbraith Avenue SE with the option to expand to eventually accommodate a 20-person office in Grand Rapids, founder and President Mike Ellis confirmed to MiBiz.
The growing, yet low-profile company, which has more than doubled its headcount in the last five years, plans to use the expansion as a learning experience as it potentially looks to open other satellite offices in Detroit and Toronto, Ellis said. About a half-dozen employees who currently commute between Grand Rapids and Holland will transition to the new office, where the company hopes to hire new developers as soon as possible.
“Grand Rapids is really our first office outside of Holland,” he said. “We’re very excited about this opportunity to have a second location, and we hope to learn a lot about that and then expand farther beyond Holland-Grand Rapids in the future.”…
